Your Data Helps Us Understand: maternal health and wellbeing
Terms to know: Maternal care desert – A place where pregnant people have a hard time getting the important care they need during pregnancy.
Over a 2-week period during the 1st trimester, about 65% of PowerMoms see a healthcare professional for a pregnancy-related reason, with about 50% getting an ultrasound.
But, in maternity care deserts, PowerMoms report slightly more symptoms (dizziness, fatigue, headaches, shortness of breath, swelling of the hands/feet/face) across the board.
Thank you for helping us learn!
